From an interesting question raised by a user today, just wanted to share with the rest:

Sujatha Atchuthan:

Hi KC, ur tabulation has been very helpful. Thanks a lot. For salary above 5k, is it true, employer contribution is only 12% and not 13%. If the employer has been contributing 13% all along, is it allowed? Is our standard employee contribution is set at 11%? Can it be higher?

KC:

Hi Sujatha, quoted from KWSP, for your first question:

Cumulative statutory contribution rate of 24% (13% employer's share and 11% employee's share) for employees earning a monthly salary / wage of RM5,000.00 and below and cumulative statutory contribution rate of 23% (12% employer's share and 11% employee's share) for employees earning a monthly salary / wage above RM5,000.00

For your second question:

the amount of wages for the month which shall be contributed to the Fund by each employer for each employee shall be according to any limit on the amount of wages and contributions as prescribed by the Board
